Sometimes you have a weekend that is so good you don’t want it to end; and you wish you could live this way all the time!
At the opening weekend of the BC Shellfish and Seafood Festival, I ate more scrumptious seafood than I have ever eaten in a weekend, learnt more about my regions, seafood production, how to shuck an oyster, spent time in the sun, and enjoyed the company of an amazing group of people including my fellow travel blogger Henry.
It was a jammed packed long weekend exploring parts of Comox Valley(Comox, Courtenay, and Campbell River). I love this part of BC and what better way to show it off then with an Instagram photo tour.

What’s that? Geoduck! It’s a large, edible salt water clam. @nedbell made a delicious seafood chowder with it at The BC Shellfish and Seafood festival last weekend. The festival continues this weekend. Geoduck is popular in China and as of 2011 were selling for over $150/lb A photo posted by Megan Kennedy (@wanderlustmegan) on

Cermaq’s Venture Point Salmon Farm Tour
Cermaq Venture Point salmon farm in Okisollo Channel in beautiful British Columbia. We went exploring and learned more about salmon back in June. Located between Sonora and Quadra Islands, I could have easily been an overnight guest, enjoying a glass of wine with the sun setting and the salmon jumping. @bcsalmonfarmers A photo posted by Megan Kennedy (@wanderlustmegan) on

The flight back to Vancouver
//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js
As we flew back on the float plane, we were filled with seafood, sunshine and smiles. I know I need to come back next year. I loved the selection of seafood, tours and events for the BC Shellfish & Seafood Festival. Plus, with my new found skill of being able to shuck oyster I can enjoy BC oysters in my own home with family and friends.
Thank you Comox Valley Economic Development Society for having me as your guest. All opinion are my own, as always.
Check out my post on how to shuck an oyster and follow me on Instagram for more photos of my adventures!
Beautiful pictures, I will put this festival on my must do list!
A two week festival of seafood, you would love it!
This looks awesome, I’d love to attend next year!
This looks amazing! I have never heard about this festival but I imagine I would leave with a very full belly of goodness.
I love seafood, and I love Comox/Courtenay, so I think I will have to mark this event on my calendar for next year!
You should! You would love it, bring an empty stomach!
