2013 is going to be about spending time in my home country, Canada. I’m fortunate to live in a large country and not taking advantage of it seems like a waste.

I have some plans confirmed while others are in the works. My confirmed adventures so far are:

Jasper – February – I’m going to take Via Rail to Jasper and spend a few days exploring. It’s my first time visiting and I can’t wait to explore the mountains and town. I already have an ice canyon walk with Jasper Tour Company reserved, a hike with skating on Lake Midred, Jasper Yellowhead Museum and Archives and exploring the town. I’m hoping to go snowshoeing on one of the days as well. My room is reserved and I’m ready to get away.

Salt Spring Island – April – Thanks to Miss604, I won the GLOW Salt Spring Island Giveaway! I’m really excited for this long weekend getaway and enjoying the luxurious accommodation and exploring the island. We get to stay at the Hastings House, take a float plane, receive a Salt Spring hamper as well as gift certificates for shopping and dinner at Auntie Pestos. The food options are plentiful and it looks like we will be able to enjoy the farmers market which starts in April. Thanks again Miss604, Salt Spring Island Tourism, The Salt Spring Christmas Committee, Hastings House Country House Hotel, Salt Spring Air, and the Chamber of Commerce. I can’t wait to bring one of my best friends with me.

Toronto area – May & June – I’m heading back to the Toronto area for just over two weeks to spend time with my family, explore a bit and go to TBEX. I haven’t been home in a while and I’m looking forward to spending time with my immediate and extended family. I’m also looking forward to visiting some of my old favourite places like Hockey Hall of Fame, Niagara Falls and new places still to research.

I still have a bit more vacation time to plan but I think I might take longer weekends and explore parts of British Columbia or use it all at once, time will tell.
